IN THE NEWS: ALEJANDRO G. INARRITU'S VR INSTALLATION 'CARNE Y ARENA'
We can't help but notice that the VR revolution has and continues to divide the storytelling industries - there are those who seem so dogmatically sceptical and the rest who are more openly curious, those happy to embrace. Storytellers in the latter camp tend to be the more experimental, adventurous and innovative - and they don't come much bigger than Director Alejandro G. Inarritu (Revenant, Birdman, Babel, Biutiful, etc.). At Cannes last week he and DoP extraordinaire, Emmanuel Lubezki (Gravity, Revenant, Birdman, Children of Men, etc.) gave viewers a sneak peak of their VR installation, 'Carne y Arena', which will be playing in Milan (and going on tour) later in the year.
We can't wait to try out the installation but in the meantime, it's definitely worth spending 5mins to read the below Deadline article where Inarritu so powerfully and poetically gives his defence of the 8th Art form that is VR. Check it out here.
