Whenever we show VR experiences with a celebrity, people are almost always as excited by the close proximity to the 'personality' as the overall experience itself. Well, this Madame Tussauds-effect just got a whole lot more exciting.
A clever new piece of tech from the guys at 8i allows you to capture people (and objects) in full 360 - meaning you can now populate a VR experience with fully three-dimensional real-world people. The most recent publicised example of this was Cycling Pathways to Mars, Buzz Aldrin's 10-min VR experience outlining his vision of how we get to Mars. In this room-scale experience, viewers are able to move all the way around Buzz, seeing him from any angle they choose, as if they were in the room with him. Pretty cool.
And as this article argues very emphatically, it's not just for celebrities... https://goo.gl/AH675B
